A new trailer has been dropped by Insomniac, highlighting some key gameplay moments for Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. As part of this incredible new trailer, we also learned 2021's best-kept secret (so far), the name of the female Lombax that we will meet whilst dimension-hopping in Rift Apart. Insomniac has finally introduced us to Rivet. This brave Lombax is a resistance fighter in an alternative dimension where the dreaded Nefarious rules as emperor. As hilarity ensues in this new trailer, we get to explore recent locations that will be introduced in the Ratchet and Clank Multiverse, such as Nefarious City, along with alternate twists on classic planets such as Torren IV.
One thing that stood out for me in this trailer was the incredible lighting effects being used in this trailer's cinematic and gameplay scenes. The new trailer specifies that everything was filmed on the PS5, which is exciting news, as the game is looking incredibly graphically. I hope that what we see in the trailer is consistent throughout the rest of the game. Along with the graphics, we also got a proper taste of Rift Apart's Soundtrack, which is available to check out on SoundCloud Now! The Soundtrack is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh. The all-new trailer above features a track by a small band that made its way into nominees for the Rock and roll Hall of Fame and co-founded by Mark called DEVO. The song is Uncontrollable Urge. This incredible post-punk song really sets the mood for the madness we can expect to experience playing as both Ratchet and Rivet.
As a final bonus to the trailer, we got some great news from the PlayStation blog, including a look at all 5 of the outfits featured in the Digital Deluxe Edition, The Imperial, Scavenger, Android, Rebel, and Hacker suits. Along with these awesome looking outfits, players who purchase the Digital Deluxe will also receive other great bonuses, including Photo mode Stickers, 20 Raritarium, a digital soundtrack and a digital artbook. We will be learning more about Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart during a special State of play later this week on April 29th at 22:00 BST.
