Complex Sky is an indie game about building your very old city, a game that we have seen come and go time and time again the popular Sim City series and Cities Skylines. Although Complex Sky comes with a twist, something that these two giants have not ever tried before. Building a city vertically! This game takes place in the post environment devastated world, where land is limited. Players will start to build their city as they would in any other Sim, quickly filling the land that they have. Once the land is filled, the player will then be able to build atop their current buildings, to begin the journey of building their city upwards towards the sky.

City Building Madness

Complex Sky features both strategy and puzzle elements, where players are required to build a city up into a sky littered by floating islands. While building upward or even downwards, players will need to find and procure materials, to form a deep and complex crafting chain and to enhance the many different technologies available to be discovered.

What’s more impressive is that each and every building has a unique placement and mechanic build into it, and it's key that players learn these as they build to avoid any catastrophic disasters from occurring. An example of this can be found in unlocking the ability to automate production due to the barrage of building materials that are available in this unique sim.

Two Ways To Play

Complex Sky comes with two game modes:

  • First of all, there is a Sandbox Mode in which players will be able to build as freely as they like, and not have to manage any of the complex features such as item management, population management etc. This is a mode for simple building and relaxed, calm fun.

  • The next mode and the recommended way to play is Challenge Mode which will feature all the difficulties to creating your very own city. You will need to control the population, manage pollution, and well… stop your city from collapsing due to the poor designs!

Complex Sky seems like it’s going to be really fun and unique. This is actually the first title produced by developer Complex Blue Studio, showing a great level of skill coming from this sole Indie Developer.
