Today we got to check out 14 minutes of gameplay from Bloober Teams upcoming psychological horror, The Medium, which releases on January 28th For Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Medium puts us into the surreal world of Mary Anne, who is haunted by a vision of a girls murder. As a Medium, Mary Anne can see two worlds and have out of body experiences to help her solve puzzles as she unravels the vision that haunts her.
In the gameplay which you can check out above, we see Mary Anne investigating an abandoned and desolate hotel, which soon changes into a split-screen, depicting the real world and the spirit world. Using the two worlds, we can solve puzzles to help Mary Anne progress through the world as she aids other lost and broken spirits such as one we meet called Sadness to find peace. However, we learn very quickly that this is not just a game about helping spirits, as it is also a fight for survival. About halfway through the trailer, we watch Maryanne lost in the Spirit world thanks to a mirror as she tries to help a boy called Bernard be put to rest, however upon doing so ends up being chased by a monstrous spirit. With no way to fight back, Mary Anne is forced to use wits over brawn, hiding, sneaking around and creating distant distractions to sneak past the spirit that haunts her not just in the spirit world, but in the real world too.
