EA are back in a Galaxy Far Far Away! That is right, EA is finally starting to talk Star Wars again. I can only see what they announced yesterday (january 25th) as good news! Respawn Entertainment, the guys behind the best of the modern Star Wars games so far, Jedi: Fallen Order will be taking the helm on 3 Star Wars projects> The first and probably most obvious is the next game in the Fallen order Series and if the rumour is anything to go on we will be seeing a few more details about this in the coming months! I cannot wait to see where Cal and those who remained at the end of Fallen Order will wind up, and I hope that we will see even more familiar faces along with some new ones as we continue to survive among the Stars.
But Fallen order isn't the only game we heard about in EA's latest update. They also mentioned that they are working on a new First Person Shooter. This new shooter will (according to other sources) not be a part of the Battlefront series and will be led by Peter Hirschmann, who produced many of the Star Wars games in the early 2000s, including the original Battlefronts Empire At War, Force unleashed and even Lego Star Wars. I would love this new FPS to continue the original battlefront series, with a new story, classic game modes, and even some new features. However, I would also welcome an all-new title filled with high octane combat and a gripping story that I won't be able to put down. To top it all off, Peter has even shared his own excitement stating, "Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell". I cannot wait to see what story Peter is going to tell us, but when it comes to where or who this story will focus on within the galaxy far, far away, we are still left in the dark void of space … for now
The 3rd and final game that EA has announced they are working on is a Strategy title. As an avid strategy gamer myself, I cannot wait to see what EA announces for this one. This project will be created by the newly formed studio Bit Reactor, led by industry veteran Greg Foerstch, a name I am all to familiar with seeing within the credits of some of my Favourite games. Greg has worked on titles that include Firaxis' Xcom Enemy Unknown and Xcom 2. Greg has also worked on many Sid Meirs games, including several Civilization titles! I really hope Greg bring Squad sized turn-based tactics to Star Wars. This type of genre would work so well across the entire timeline we have seen within the movies, from the galactic republic where we could play as the elite clone ARC troopers, to the galactic civil war where we could play as the early rebel factions resisting the stormtroopers to save our planets.
Unfortunately, all these options for what both Bit Reactor and Respawn are working on for both the unannounced titles are nothing more than the hopes of a fan. Hopefully, EA will shine some more light on what we can expect from both these games and the next fallen order game very soon, as all 3 are in active development.
