Enter a world of colour and psychedelia effects in Spinch! Created by Queen bee games and published by Akupara Games this vibrant title will be sure to dazzle and wow your senses as you travel across this uniquely trippy game. Spinch will see us transcend the material realm and take the form of Spinch, a “hyper agile organism” who has lost its offspring in a luminous world of stunning kaleidoscopic effects, where colourful enemies will hunt Spinch and his children for their tasty flesh.
Spinch will be able to dash dodge and jump across these marvellous side-scrolling levels collecting his children and using them as ammunition to tackle obstacles in his way. From its trailers, Spinch will bring the next level to platform gaming, through incredible challenges spread out through the breath-taking levels, making what would usually look mundane activities such as climbing a large tree exciting, by introducing a chase up the tree with no respite for your Spinch as he jumps his way higher and higher. Spinch will not be alone in his adventure however as he may bump into his cousin, babysitting his babies, but he is going to be as weird as the world we play in.
Spinch is brought to life by visionary artist Jesse Jacobs, an award-winning comic book artist with featured graphics novels such as Crawl Space and Safari Honeymoon. You may also be familiar with his work in Adventure time, where he provided art for the incredible Cartoon Network series. Jesse’s art and comics have always followed a strong psychedelic suit and he carries a writing style to match in his comics. We are loving the artwork in Spinch, from the incredible labyrinthine level design teeming with complex obstacles to the insanely colourful enemies that bend the fabric of reality with their warped appearances. A whole new level of immersion will be brought to Spinch too with its unique soundtrack by James Kirkpatrick, who bends retro and electronic sounds to create some spectacular tunes, thanks to his trusty Gameboy and some other obscure “instruments” like a child's toy. you can check out a glimpse of both of these incredible artists in action with their weekly live stream of storytelling. You can check out an episode of the live stream below, where queen bees very own Team Rocket (Jesse and James) lay down some beats from Spinch and bring us an incredible piece of artwork based on the game.
Spinch will release later this year on September the 3rd and is set to be an incredible addition to fans of the side-scroller and platformer genre, as well as for speed runners looking for a new challenge filled with colour and fully replayable time and time again. Spinch will be making its way to PC and Nintendo Switch and we cannot wait to play this incredible and vibrant game both at home and on the go.
