With the imminent release of Cyberpunk 2077, its very easy to forget about some of the other high potential titles that are releasing around this time period. Waving our way through the hype we managed to identify a nice hidden little gem, that is releasing 2 days before Cyberpunk 2077. Now, if you cast your minds back to November, when the Xbox Series X was showcased, you'll remember a little game being shown called Call of the Sea. If you don't remember it, then familiarise yourself with it, as it has the potential to be a fantastic new adventure game, that works in a similar vein to Indie Hit, Firewatch. Call of the Sea is a first-person adventure game set in the 1930s that tells the story of Norah, a woman in search of information about her missing husband and following his lost expedition. Players will be tasked with navigating a strange island in the South Pacific, filled with secrets waiting to be unearthed. Much like Firewatch, the game will tell its narration through its environment and its set, topical conversations. Puzzles will challenge you to establish interesting ways to tackle this beautiful tropical setting, whilst being taken on an exotic journey set out by the developers for this interesting upcoming title.
Player will be controlling Norah, a charming character, on a quest to discover the truth of the disappearance of her husband. On this journey players will not only learn about the hidden truths of her husband, but about the person that Norah is and her history that led her to the events of now. Lastly, and most amazingly, Norah is voiced by veteran voice actress Cissy Jones (Firewatch, The Walking Dead, Life is Strange). To progress the game players will need to search for meaning. Clues will be dotted around the environment and it will be your tasks to identified these relics, left by the previous voyage, and piece together what happened. Puzzles will be clever, so keep an eye on your clues, and use your wits to solve them.
The tropical world that you will be immersed in, during your time with Call of the Sea, will be full to the brim with emotions, suspense, shock and surreal surprises. Be ready for anything to happen. The island will have you plundering the depths of the sea, searching in soaked rocky environments, navigating beautiful forests and strolling bright shimmering beaches. But, no matter where you are, you will be faced with challenges again, and again, and again. Check out the trailer at the top of this article if you haven't done so already, and we look forwards to seeing what screenshots, stories and experiences players have with this ambitious title. Call of the Sea is coming to both Xbox and PC on December 8th.
