Following Nintendo’s presentation of Indie games coming to the Switch, I saw this trailer and was really hooked by the atmosphere provided in such a short period, and I instantly knew I wanted to learn more. Little did I know the path it would take me on. Far: Changing Tides is a 2D action-adventure type which is the direct sequel to Far: Lone Sails, and as soon as I saw it, I downloaded it and im so impressed with the mechanics. If the same effort is applied to Changing Tides, this will definitely be one to keep an eye on.Following Nintendo’s presentation of Indie games coming to the Switch, I saw this trailer and was really hooked by the atmosphere provided in such a short period, and I instantly knew I wanted to learn more. Far: Changing Tides is more than anything an adventure. You journey on board your super cool boat built out of scrap and using extraordinary technology to make it go. The focus on their previous game was similar to all about the journey and adventure where Lone Sails was a desert wilderness of some war. Changing Tides takes the simple idea of what if it’s on the sea and adds so much to it by including vibrant colour. You will take your ship out and begin your journey. On this journey, you’ll gain many upgrades while trying to keep your fuel sources in check. All of them add to your ship, building it up all physically as well as keeping you busy and overall help you keep going forward until you can find your new home.
As you progress, the stress keeps being added. While you keep an eye on your ever-decreasing fuel, your new components will get damaged, so you’ll also need to keep jumping around fixing things as they go wrong or putting fires out. Something im very excited about seeing is the underwater exploration, as you’ll come across remnants of the previous world, but you’ll also need to judge how to deal with potential threats which will slow you down or destroy your means of transport. One of the themes dealt with in the first game is isolation, something we can all relate to im sure, following last year. My hope is that Changing Tides also brings this feeling of loneliness as no matter how much you progress, you always come back to your boat and the quiet. Far: Changing Tides is coming soon to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles as well as PC, so be sure to stay with is at 3Bit as we continue to follow this incredible looing title.
