During the PlayStation 5 event, we were treated to a good view of the newest core entry in the Final Fantasy series, XVI. This entry takes Final Fantasy right back to its roots, in which the game focuses around crystals, summons and occurs in an old-fantasy environment. Honestly, I cannot wait for this title as its been a long time since the core entries have re-visited their roots, and with IX being my favourite, this is a much welcome return.
In the showcase we are showcased traditional Chocobo’s clad in armour and we even see a rarer White Chocobo, which could hint at the opportunity to find alternative coloured Chocobos for your journey. We also see a character being killed violently which highlights that this game is going to have mature themes, which when compared to previous entries that avoided displaying gore, shows a new direction for the game. There’s so much that I could start to break down here, ranging from Red Mages, Dragoons, all the way to the key theme of the trailer summons, but check out the trailer above and take a look for yourself!
