Hogwarts Legacy has hit a bump in the road this week as the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off game has lost its lead designer, Troy Leavitt. Troy publicly announced his resignation from Avalanche this morning at approx. 01:30 am GMT, where he stated.
“1. I have made the decision to part ways with Avalanche Software. I have nothing but good things to say about the game, the dev team, and WB Games. 2. I will be releasing a YouTube video about this soon on my channel.”
Whilst Troy’s reasons for quitting may differ in his upcoming video, we at 3Bit are of the understanding that Troy recently got put under the spotlight by Liam Robertson, a freelance British journalist. The latter dug up several old videos of Troy’s, where he expresses support for the controversial Gamergate and downplayed feminism and sexual harassment in the gaming world. Whilst we at 3Bit believe that opinions and personalities can change over time and with education, it would seem that Troy has taken it upon himself to get ahead of the situation, keeping his opinions and the controversy away from the upcoming Harry Potter Spinoff.
