Tonight during Ubisoft Forward we were treated to a look at a freshly renamed title, Immortals Fenyx Rising. Formally known as Gods and Monsters, this incredible looking title takes a leaf straight out of the books of Zelda’s Breath of the Wild. Immortals Fenyx Rising will put players into the shoes of Fenyx a shipwrecked adventurer who has wound up on Golden Isle, the home of the Gods. This 3rd person adventure will bring Fenyx into a prophecy where she is the hero of the Gods, as they struggle against mythological creatures such as Harpies, Minotaurs and even the dreaded Medusa. They all serve under the dreaded Titan Typhon.
Immortals Fenyx Rising will bring awesome varied combat to this almost cartoony world filled with myths and legends. Fenyx will be able to use her Axe, sword and Bow to combat these legends, along with incredible abilities such as spears that rise from the ground affecting all enemies near you. Fenyx will also unlock the ability to fly, glide and climb to traverse the incredible open world. Fenyx’s flight will come from the Wings of Daedalus, one of the many powers gifted to our hero by the gods to help her fight against Typhon’s Monsters and corrupted beings.
As far as the story goes, Immortal’s Fenyx Rising does not seem to take itself too seriously, and whilst it includes a lot of references to Greek Mythology. It also includes a Zeus that sounds like it belongs in Disney’s Hercules. Zeus will be narrating the story alongside the Titan Prometheus. However, Zeus always seems to find the Titan’s ‘tale’ boring and will often try to spice it up by throwing in a few fights or by shrinking a Cyclops to the size of a child.
Immortals Fenyx Rising will launch on December 3rd 2020 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Serie X, PC, Stadia and Nintendo Switch.
