Mass Effect Legendary Edition has finally been given a release date, and the rumours were true! The highly anticipated return of Commander Shepard and the crew of the Normandy will be May 14th, 2021. The news of Mass Effect Legendary Editions launch was announced today with a new trailer, which you can check out above alongside a press release that features some new details about the remaster.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be a full 4K UHD remaster of the original trilogy and all of its expansions, giving you the whole Normandy experience. In the EA press statement, we learned that the Legendary Edition will feature Remastered character models, improved shaders and tens of thousands of “up-ressed” textures, lighting upgrades, shadowing improvement, and some improved volumetrics and depth of field to bring in new levels of immersion. These upgrades and improvements will also be supported by various quality of life and UI advancements, including modernised squad controls and combat.
On top of these exciting improvements, the character creation has also been updated, with new cosmetic selections, skin tone options, and has unified all cosmetics across all three games, giving players a sense of continuity. This Unity continues by allowing players to use the female version of Commander Shepard from Mass Effect 3 in Mass Effect 1 and 2. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is available to preorder now on PC (Origin and Steam) PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Legendary Edition also offers forward compatibility for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
