Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout creators Mediatonic have joined the Epic Games family! This shocking news came from a series of blog posts and a surprise congratulatory tweet from Tim Sweeny, the Epic Games CEO. Whilst it is a shame to see Mediatonic leave Devolver Digital, who have championed the English developer Mediatonic since 2011, we are sure that things will only get better for Mediatonic now they are part of the Epic Games family.
But what does this news mean for fall guys, and will we see any changes to the insanely popular gameshow title inspired by great tv shows like Takashi’s Castle and Wipeout? Currently, the answer is no. Under Epic’s guidance, Mediatonic will still release Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles, whilst also maintaining sales on Steam and PlayStation.
In an FAQ section of the Mediatonic blog post, we also learnt that we might also be seeing crossplay and Squads coming to Fall Guys, as these are features included in many Epic titles such as Fortnite and Rocket League, and the Mediatonic crew would love to have these features themselves in Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout. Mediatonic also mentioned there are currently no plans for Fall Guys to go free to play, which seems to be the way with most recent Epic titles. This fantastic news of epic buying mediatonic also comes on the back of Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout being nominated for 5 BAFTA’s Game Awards.
