Metal Slug is finally making a return with an all-new take on the classic game. That is right, today, during Summer Game Fest, we learnt that Metal Slug is going strategic with Metal Slug: Tactics. The incredible and chaotic pixel adventure is going grid based on PC, bringing roguelike elements and turn-based strategy to the field.

With Metal Slug: Tactics, we will be able to choose between a variety of iconic brothers in arms to battle against the forces of Morden as the Peregrine Falcon will have to do what they can to stop their leader Donald Morden and the new army that he has built-in exile as they execute a coup d’état and take their revenge upon the world.

Metal Slug: Tactics will give us all we need to build our perfect team and battle through massive enemy forces as we fight and die over and over in battles that will challenge even the sharpest minds. Thankfully, we will have all the assistance we need within our team. We can launch simultaneous attacks and use unique abilities by charging our adrenaline and call in reinforcements with special assistance from artillery and airstrikes. Of course, if that isn't enough destruction for you, you will also be able to use a variety of environmental pieces to take out enemies in huge numbers. One such example we saw in the trailer was of an airstrike destroying a bridge, taking out not only the people on the bridge but those who lie in wait below too.

No official release date has been given for Metal Slug: Tactics yet, but be sure to follow us below on Twitter and Facebook as we continue to follow this incredible looking tile on the build-up to its full release, which we hope is very soon!
