Today we saw more updates from the world of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. The most significant update being the Minecraft collaboration, which will be coming to the game on October 13th. The collaboration will bring Steve and Alex as new fighters to the arena, along with new maps, upgradable weapons, abilities and a new crafting meter. Director Masahiro Sakurai, who presented today Nintendo Showcase, explained that just like in Minecraft Steve and Alex will be able to upgrade their weapons from wood all the way to diamond.
Along with the new characters, we will also be seeing new maps and music. The soundtracks will come from Minecraft Earth, dungeons and other Minecraft spin-offs, as the music from the original game seemed to calm for the epic arena that is Smash Bros.
Along with the addition of these new characters, maps and songs, we will also be seeing new costumes for our Mii fighters, and they will not just be from Minecraft. From the Minecraft roster though we will see new costumes in the form of the dreaded Creeper, the harmless Pig and a Diamond Armoured Mii. From outside of the world of Mine Craft we will be seeing Gil from The Tower of Druaga, Bomber man from the incredibly popular retro game Bomberman and Travis from No More Heroes, which will be seeing its third instalment coming to Nintendo Switch next year. Each of these fighters will be available on October 13th and will cost 70p each.
Along with all this incredible news, Mr Sakurai also spoke to us about Amiibos, first showing off the recently released Hero from Dragon Quest and Joker from Persona 5. Shortly after we got to see a new Amiibo, Banjo and Kazooie will be available in 2021. Joining Banjo and Kazooie as future releases we will also see Tery Bogard from Final Fury and Byleth from Fire Emblem.
