Today we got to see an incredible slew of games coming to PlayStation Consoles with a staggered press release from PlayStation Indies, featuring many 3rd party games from fantastic indie teams including Night School Interactive, Thomas Happ Games and even Platinum Games? Now some of these names may not mean anything to you right now, but their games almost certainly will as we go through some of these incredible indies coming to PlayStation
Axiom Verge 2
First announced last year, we got a new trailer for Axiom Verge 2, which today got a new trailer (featured above). This new trailer showcases some incredible gameplay as you find your way home, shifting dimensions, battling both as yourself and as your drone against mechanised foes. The Story of Axiom Verge 2 follows on from its predecessor and holds a bigger secret that you can only sense right now. Axiom Verge 2 comes to PlayStation Consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC via The Epic Games Store with a TBC release date.
The extremely popular reverse horror game published by Devolver Digital and created by Phobia Game Studios puts us into the role of the monster! Imprisoned by enemies unknown to you, an amorphous blob will need to stalk corridors and hunt your captors in a desperate escape attempt. Ever-growing and ever-evolving, you will spread terror amongst the large prison that holds you. Carrion is a game I highly recommend, and PlayStation users can finally check it out for themselves later this year.
Oxenfree 2 Lost Signals
The highly anticipated second part to the Oxenfree series comes from Night School Studios and will finally be coming to PlayStation 4 and 5. In Oxen Free 2, we play a new character named Riley, a high school graduate with a lot to learn about the world. Not a lot has been given away for the story yet, but the gameplay will be relatively similar with the conversation being the key focus, but there will also be elements of time travel and a mystery within the mining town. You can check out the haunting trailer below. No release has been given for Oxen free yet, but you can be sure we will let you know the moment we know!
From the incredible Platinum Games and Hamster Corporation comes an all-new pixel arcade title, Sol Cresta. This incredible looking shooter takes queues from classic titles like the 1942 games with a twist. You will be able to dock with allied ships in a Gurren Lagaan style to improve your firepower against various foes in intense aerial combat. If combining isn’t your style, you and your allies can form up to create a devastating attack based on your chosen formation. Sol Cresta will be releasing later this year and personally, I cannot wait to get hands-on with this incredible looking game.
A Short Hike
Finally, we end with something a bit more wholesome, A Short Hike, which will be coming to PlayStation 4 later this Autumn. In A Short Hike, we guide a Bird called Claire, who is freely exploring the mountains and helping others along her way. The game is inspired by the developer of Whippoorwill’s love for hiking, with specific moments within the journal taking the spotlight, from the peaceful, meditative moments during the hike to respite at the summit. Within your journey of this tiny open world, you will find a range of mini-games to enjoy and discover off the beaten trail, including fishing and volleyball, all in all looking like the perfect game for those unable to get away this summer.
