Back 4 Blood, the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead by its original creators (now Turtle Rock Studios), released a new trailer today, where we got to see an in-depth look at the games “innovative Card System”. This rogue-lite style of card system plans to enhance your zombie hunting experience through using your own decks that will offer a variety of incredible customisation options. The biggest concern for this new way of playing was micro-transactions becoming a key part of the card system. However, after the news was released by Publisher Warner Bros., Turtle Rock Studios followed up with a commitment stating that the new card drops will “not be pay-to-win”.

All skills that you see in the trailer above and those that have not been revealed will only be available as progression rewards. However, it will be likely that some cards will be available in post-launch paid content. Turtle Rock Studios then went on to say, “We will also release new cards post-launch that everyone can earn and enjoy, whether you’ve bought content drops or not”. Some of the Cards we can expect to see include a double grenade pouch, melee and weapon buffs, and unique abilities to help you fight harder and heal faster.

Back 4 Blood launches on October 12th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. What are your thoughts on the card system in Back 4 Blood? Let us know in this article’s comments on our Twitter and Facebook pages, which you can find and follow below.
