Ubisoft has confirmed an all-new Assassin's Creed, which will take the iconic free-running adventure turned RPG to new worlds with a live service game, titled Assassin's Creed Infinite that will constantly be evolving as Ubisoft looks to the future of the gaming industry and that of the Assassin's Creed Franchise. Ubisoft states in a press statement confirming AC Infinites existence,
"We profoundly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft's most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that's less centred on studios and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft."
The project will be led by Ubisoft Quebec and Ubisoft Montreal, with Marc-Alexis Côté (AC Brotherhood, Syndicate and Origins) taking the lead as executive producer and Julien Laferrière(Producer of AC Valhalla) as the Head of Joint Productions. Jonathan Dumont (AC Syndicate and Oddesey) and Clint Hocking (Splintercell, Farcry 2, Watch Dogs Legion) will share leadership as creative directors. No details have yet been given in terms of what we can expect from the game itself yet, and as a live service game, I have my concerns with what we can expect.
As a live service game, it could be unlikely that we can return to our favourite locations as the game progresses in time. Another key concern will be how loaded with microtransactions this new path for Assassin's Creed could be. What do you think about the changes that are coming to one of Ubisoft's most beloved franchises? Do you think this is the right path for Assassin's creed?
