Its time to lock, load, and jump through some portals as the Splitgate Open Crossplay Beta kicks off today on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, giving us one last chance to try out this spectacular shooter before its full console release later this month on July 27th. The Open Beta will start at 8 PM BST on all platforms.

But why should you be excited about Splitgate? Well, that I can answer, thanks to some firsthand experience playing this awesome title during the ID@Xbox and Summer Game Fest Demo Event last month, and I can confirm this is going to be more than your average First-Person Shooter title. For one, Splitgate combines the elements of 2 incredibly iconic games series' Halo and Portal.

Splitgate combines incredible elements from both these iconic game franchises. Splitgate is a multiplayer-only FPS title with intense, fast-paced multiplayer battles reminiscent to that of classic Halo 2 and 3 multiplayer game modes, but these battles have a unique twist, and that is, of course PORTALS! The addition of portals in a shooter environment makes for some absolutely insane gameplay. Players can use portals to set up shortcuts, traps or even to line up some ridiculous kill shots from where enemies least expect it.

Will you be checking out Splitgate for yourself this week before it launches as a free to play title on July 27th on consoles? Or are you a PC player already enjoying the experience? If so, are you excited about the extended player base? Let us know in this article's comments on Facebook and Twitter and let us know in the comments of this article's post.
