They said they’d be back and that they are! Reef Entertainment is bringing Terminator Resistance to Next-Gen with a PlayStation 5 update and paid DLC which will also be available on the PC edition. The PlayStation 5 update will not only bring graphical updates and 60FPS to Terminator Resistance. Still, it will also bring a series of patches to balance the game and a new game mode that will put you into the shoes of a T-800 Terminator. You can check out all the details for this update, that will be free to those who own Terminator Resistance on the PlayStation 4 below along with what we know about the upcoming DLC.
Starting with graphics, we are going to see 4K resolution at 60 FPS brought to the PlayStation 5 edition of Terminator Resistance, which will bring a lot more detail to the NPC’s, environment, and Terminators. Of course, it would not be Next-Gen without faster loading times either, and though I found these to be quite fast in the PlayStation 4 version, I can imagine that means that they are going to be almost non-existent with the PlayStation 5 version. The move to PlayStation 5 wouldn’t be complete without taking advantage of the new Dual Sense Controller either which Reef Entertainment has stated will be happening, but no details have been shared whether this will be just through haptics or whether it will use other features too, such as the adaptive triggers.
The update for PlayStation 5 will also include a new game mode which is already available on the PC version, Infiltrator mode. Infiltrator mode will put players in control of a T-800 series Infiltrator and take on the resistance. The Terminator will need to gather intel through infiltration to find the resistance stronghold where they will then need to hunt and kill the Tech Field Com Commander. It is advised that you play this mode tactically though, as failure will result in having to start from the very beginning again.
Unfortunately, not a lot has been revealed about the paid DLC for PlayStation 5 and PC. We only know that it will be narrative-driven and will be available in the summer of 2021. As we draw into the new year, I am sure we will see more details about what to expect, though personally, I am hoping we see a particular T-1000 portrayed by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator movies. For those playing Terminator on the Xbox One there is no word yet as to whether we will see any Next-Gen updates on the Series X/S, however the patches for balancing and bug fixes will be coming to both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the first quarter of 2021, most probably in line with the PlayStation 5 Enhancement which will be coming to PlayStation 5 on March 26th 2021.
