I know what your thinking. What the heck is this game? Why are you a snail? Are you shooting things? Is that a scorpion? "I'm going to die a lot!" Those were my words after seeing the recently released trailer for Weird Beluga's dark tale. Let's have a look at this moody looking, puzzle-solving, twin-stick shooter where, as a snail, it is up to you to survive and wipe out the enemy.
This exclusive for PS4/5 indie title drew me in and had me extremely curious about this world. The care given in crafting each element of this game is evident, environments certainly look unique, and frankly, they look gorgeous. The vast array of weapons shown, the potential to combine weapons, the Dark Soul's dodge roll (which I never perfected), and even puzzle-solving has me very eager to see and explore more. While It does look eerie, the fact they focused on a twin-stick shooter is a great contrast and I'm certain, will result in both manic and visually stunning scenes.
Clid is a grumpy sausage, which is definitely something I can relate to, but he is accompanied by Belu, a firefly who counters this grump with bright and happy commentary. While humour in games can be hit and miss, I think it will provide a much needed respite from the atmosphere and sheer mania of the battles. All in all, I think this is definitely a game to keep your eye on and should be out in the Summer of this year.
