Today during the PlayStation State of Play we saw updates for Godfall an all-new RPG, Looter and slasher by developers Counterplay games and published by Borderlands creators Gearbox. God fall will be releasing on the Playstation 5 and PC later this year, and today we saw new features and learnt a little bit more about what to expect in Godfall.
Like the Borderlands series, Godfall will feature a lot of loot progression, both in its weapons and in the armour that we choose for our Valarian Knight. The weapon classes we get to choose from in Godfall range from Longswords, dual blades and polearms, to 2 handed weapons like the Warhammer and Greatsword. Each weapon type will offer unique move sets and will all come with their own primary and secondary traits, such as the longsword, a balanced weapon which will feature light attacks and heavy attacks, which and also be utilised as a finishing move. The longsword class will also feature its abilities, such as the spiral technique, which will pierce through enemies that are brave enough to stand in front of you.
Alongside the great array of weapons, we will also have our defences. The first line of defence for our knight is his shield. With the Shield, we will not only be able to block, parry and counter, as in many ways the shield is also your secondary weapon, as you can use it to bash and then finish enemies. Alternatively, you can be just like Captain America and launch your shield at enemies and call it back to you, giving you the option to pull off a powerful ground smashing finisher.
Alongside the various weapons and our multifunctional skill, we will have our a great array of armours to choose from, made from legendary Valor plates, all with their own history, characteristics and unique appearances. As stated in previous showcases for God fall we will also not be seeing any Microtransactions in Godfall, meaning all of the gear will be available to acquire or unlock through playing the game.
The Story will centre around a campaign that can be played either on your own or as a team with up to 2 other friends. As Valorian Knights you will have to fight through hordes of enemies as you venture to the mountain of a Mad God who must be stopped at all costs. With Godfall aggression will be key to the games overall dynamic, as the enemies we will be fighting to get to the mountain will attack in force, meaning we will have to utilise all of our knights skills, whilst moving around the level, controlling the battlefield.
You can check out the full gameplay showcase for Godfall below, where you can watch the aggressive combat and check out some of the impressive armours, and to make it even better it is all recorded on the PlayStation 5.
